Age: 10 years old (Born 2014)

Height: 13HH

Gender: Mare

Personality
Genie is generally good to handle but would benefit from someone with experience as she does need reassurance in some situations.

Genie is being rehomed as a non ridden companion.

Genie is generally good to handle but would benefit from someone with experience as she does need reassurance in some situations. She stands nicely for the vet and farrier. She is a very affectionate mare and will happily stand to be groomed for ages.

Although Genie cannot be ridden, she is happy to go for walks and could do some horse agility with a confident handler.

In the paddock, Genie is good in a herd. She will need her weight monitoring and her grazing restricted to prevent obesity and has been respectful of electric fencing. She will need a constant companion as she does get a little anxious when a friend is taken away but soon settles as long as she has another equine friend in sight.

Please note: Genie requires shoes, so she is being rehomed on our Prime Pastures scheme, where we can contribute towards the cost of this.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
